Item # 13799

Circa 1838-1912

14½″ high by 10″ wide

This is a pair of Japanese woodblock prints on rice paper of Geisha ladies in traditional garb made by the artist known as Chikanobu. He was better known for his Sino Japanese war prints which featured famous battles. This is from a series of family and geisha prints that he did later in his life. The woodblock prints have recently been framed for the first time in archival materials to save them. They do have well hidden losses or small holes but have not been cut down and are both slightly soiled from age. They are both signed and are being sold separate of each other and therefore are matted in different colors and frame styles to better set off the ladies who have been captured in these art pieces.
