Victorian bamboo and hand painted silk fire screen
Item# 12586
Circa 1890 & 1980
41 1/2" high 29" wide 13" deep
This is a stunning faux bamboo Victorian fire screen. The bamboo is painted a muted gold. The screen has been covered on both sides in the center. One side is super feminine with handpainted flowers with butterflies embellished with French lingerie ribbons and flowers.
The back side is covered in a more masculine gold and brown geometric pattern. The screen is in very good overall condition and is missing a piece of fretwork at the top right side.
This is a treasure from my own personal collection. It was made as part of the decorative arts department of Nightingale Designs and stayed with me when I retired from retail. All of the parts are vintage. The frame is from France the hand painted fabrics are from England.
I will not be able to estimate shipping costs as the packing and shipping arrangements should be made by the buyer. I would suggest Craters & Freighters of Pittsburgh. They can be reached at 412 487-7075 for an estimate using the measurements and pictures as a guide.
